Damien Hirst—The Elusive Truth!
In this large-scale publication for the first exhibition of Damien Hirst’s Fact Paintings in New York, all paintings are tipped-in, referencing the style of plates deployed in early-20th-century art books. All paintings preceding pages had a die-cut, shaped to match a detail of the painting seen underneath. A different Pantone colour is used in each 8-page section of the book to give the appearance of the colour fading as the pages progress. A small-scale insert is bound into the centre of the book, containing a short story by JG Ballard. The tipped in painting on the cover was printed on plastic and vacuum formed to raise the text from the surface. Published by Gagosian.
